Across the room, similar phrases surfaced:

  • “I don’t want to position myself as an expert.”

On their own, these are healthy instincts.

But when they become permanent posture, something happens:

  • offers stay vague

  • language simplified

Instead of hiding behind complexity, people spoke from pattern recognition.

They didn’t sound louder.
They sounded clearer.

And clarity created relief—not arrogance.


Where This Can Go Wrong (And How We’re Holding It)

Authority becomes dangerous when it:

  • pretends to be universal
  • erases context
  • resists feedback

That’s not what’s being cultivated here.

Inside the incubator, authority is always paired with:

  • transparency
  • consent
  • limits

You can lead without dominating.
You can name without controlling.

Knowing where you stand—and letting others orient themselves in relation to you.
